Papagayo is almost totally Gluten Free!

I was totally surprised when I asked Bryan, the owner of Papagayo if he had a Gluten Free menu or served GF items.  He brought the menu over and showed me that their entire menu is Gluten Free except for one dinner.  Just remember to ask for the corn tortillas instead of wheat.

Check them out for lunch as well.  They have a 555 deal: 5 items, 5 dollars, 5 minutes. http://www.tucsonnightout.com/events/29864/555-lunch-special

And always remind your server that you are ordering a Gluten Free dinner so they can take extra precautions.

Do they use a separate fryer for the chips and other non gluten fried items? They have chimichangas on their menu, which means that they are frying flour tortillas.

I have an appointment with Bryan on Monday and I will find out. I was primarily talking about their dinner menu on my original post. I’m sorry, I should have been more clear.

I did meet with Brian the other day and we talked about the fryer. He informed me that they only have one fryer and they cook everything in there, so you should avoid the chips or anything else that might be deep fried if you are very sensitive. I had the chips there that night and they did not bother me, but I’m not that sensitive, but you probably know what you can tolerate and what you cant. Thanks for asking Maya Rose, you brought up a good point that many restaurant owners don’t even think about when they think about making GF foods.
